Bring the beauty of the sea inside with the beautiful shell. The abalone is the 'pink' variety measuring 6-7", and displays a swirling, iridescent pool reminiscent of the ocean and all its wonders. While they may be called pink abalones, they contain a multitude of colors including; green, blue, silver, and orange. The shell can be used as a simple display, or add candles, soap, or other little treasures. These make great bathroom and vanity displays and can hold jewelry, coins, etc. The highly iridescent inner layer of the shell of abalone has traditionally been used as a decorative inlay on jewelry, buttons, furniture, musical instruments such as guitars, knife handles & many other shell crafts. Abalone shells are a marine snail commonly called ear shell, sea ear. The larger the shell, the older, and they have more fabulous natural 'imperfections' & characteristics from aging and living in the oceans. These larger shells' interiors are highly iridescent with colorful blues, greens and silver, with black accents. Each shell does have its own uniqueness, so please use the photos as reference. The thick outer layer has been cleaned off to show the deep rich rusty color. These shells outer have been sealed, strictly for preservation, however that does not change the look. **Please note: the smaller abalone shells will have less coloring & do appear more silver on the inner shell- the larger, older shells have richer deeper tones. One of the distinguishing factors of the pink abalone is the depth of the shell. All of our shells are real & unique. The majority of the shells we sell are intended for crafting purposes & are not specimens (unless otherwise specified); meaning that most will show evidence of their lives in the ocean. There may be natural variations such as but not limited to: growth marks, pinpoint holes, chipped points or edges, calcium build up, etc. WE DO NOT SELL “PERFECT” SHELLS- our shells are natural, beautiful, & imperfect.
